Fish Report for Sunday, September 19, 2010

September 19, 2010 | By

Hello, and thanks for logging in. In the beginning of the week, the Rogue River fishing was extremely slow and it force me to try new horizons. I went to the Coos River on Thursday, hooked 5 and landed 3. I was fishing with a really neat couple and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Friday, I had four really nice, super-good fishermen with me and they made my job really nice. We hooked 16 and landed 9 on the Coos. It is just red hot. I’ve never fished the majority of my time on the Coos, but and I got it figured out on Thursdays and it really panned out on Friday with some great Southern Oregon fishing.

The three and a half inches of rain we got yesterday and today has greatly improved fishing conditions the Rogue. I had five bites on the Rogue River today and only landed one, unfortunately, but there were a number of fish caught. There is a good number of silvers in at the moment and it will do nothing but improve. It’s starting to look like October is going to be a red hot couple of weeks, so don’t hesitate to contact me at 541-425-1515 and let me help fulfill a dream of yours!

Fish Report for Sunday, September 12, 2010

Hello and thank you for logging in for this week’s fish report. Fishing is greatly improved. On Saturday almost every boat had a couple of fish. The big fish was 47 pounds, and there are a lot of upper 30’s and low 40’s being caught right now. I’ve been going up river picking up a couple of fish a day myself, or I come in to the bay and get one then head up river to pick up another.

I do believe Fish and Wildlife (ODF&W) is correct when they say that in October there are going to be quite a few monsters picked up. Perhaps in the upper 40’s to low 50’s, so don’t miss a catch of a lifetime! Even if it’s just one or two a day these babies are beautiful and would look real good mounted above your fireplace or den at home. You can call me at 541-425-1515 to book a trip.

Fish Report for Sunday, September 5, 2010

Hello, and thank you for logging in for this week’s fish report. The Rogue River, due to the Gold Rey Damn removal is just giving us fits. I’m able to go up river and catch 1-2 fish a day while on anchor in the early morning, but that’s about it. I went to Coquille River today to check the fishing out. We had five bites, brought two to the boat and only landed one. There were probably 150 boats from Rocky Point to Harry Slack’s house. We saw 12 fish landed, but there was a whole lot more action than that.

Friday, on the Rogue we had three bites, brought two to the boat, and landed one. I had a single that day, and on Wednesday I hooked two. The salmon came off and instead, I landed a 10 pound steelhead. Thursday, we hooked a nice Chinook but it came off and we landed a cut throat trout.

24 pounder caught Friday, September 3, 2010

So you can see my frustration; normally I’m catching 4-5 fish a day right now. Due to the turbitiy and high flows caused by the Gold Rey Damn, we are experiencing slower than normal fishing. The ODFW said the flows should drop by September 15th and be back to the 15,000-18,000 cfs range, instead of the 28,000 cfs in the Rogue right now. We should be set for some great fishing in late September, early October, so don’t hesitate to call and book your trip.

Thank you again for logging in,
