Fishing Report for March 20, 2016

March 24, 2016 | By

Brenda was shaking like a leaf by the time we got it in the net.  It was a beautiful 27-28 pound fish.  Being a wild, we had to release it, but they are here and beautiful.  There was 6 or 7 pound Hatchery fish caught yesterday.  I hope to have one soon.  It’s time to start thinking about booking your Spring trip starting next week. Looking forward to your call!

Well it isn’t a Chinook but it’s a beautiful Steelhead, about nine or ten pounds chrome on chrome bright. Not a bad day so far on the Rogue. They seem to love my bait today. It’s windy and rainy but cozy inside and what a bless day it is!

I had another blessed day on the Rogue.  We had fish ranging from 23 lb to 30 lb in 6 1/2 hrs. They had to drive to the valley.  The Rogue is still the best river for fishing on the Southern Oregon Coast.  The Umpqua is just starting to get going.  As soon as the fishing is out on the Rogue, I will be there at the Umpqua.  It sure is nice over here and have I openings for next week.  Love to see you!

Today was a slow day on the Rogue.  We were blessed to have a 21lb. jack and a perch.  Still put me at 1 fish per person if we count Jacks.  Had low pressure move over us today and I think that is what shut them down.  They were rolling all over, 100s possibly 1000s of them but didn’t want to bite.  Hopefully they will bite better tomorrow.

Today on the Rogue was windy and the bite was slow until mid afternoon.  We got these lunkers late.  We had 4 bites 3 to the boat but 1 came off side the boat leaving us with  a 28lb and a 16lb.  The fish that came off was a mid 20 pounder.

Today I was well blessed here on the Rogue.  We had 3 bites and 3 fish.  It was a beautiful day on the Southern Oregon Coast, in low 70s, sunny and a lite breeze.  It sure beats the heat.  We are having a blast  and wish you would come join us.  Your guide, John.

The Rogue is and has been really good this last week .  Sunday I had a single and we landed 2 fish.  Today the couple blow landed 3 fish on their 1/2 day trip.  Fish are rolling and splashing and the best part of it is they were biting too.  We saw 35 to 40 fish hooked today.  Love to share this exciting times with you so come and have some fun.

Even on slow days we’re still able to catch beautiful fish like this 24 pounder here on the Rogue Bay.  Most of us are average in 1 per client.  If you’re tired of the heat you might want to come in enjoy feisty fight.  This fish took a hundred and eighty five feet its first run.  You can’t beat that for excitement and it should do nothing but pick up.  Water temp was 73.5 when I came off today.

Look at this whopper we caught on Wednesday!

Jun1915A

Thursday we had a 28lb and a 16lb fish.  Everyone caught a fish. It’s getting better each day and water is warming up and holding right around 70 degrees.  It had cooled down but now we are back to a temperature that will start to hold them in the bay.  So, come and get them!
