Rogue River Fish Report for June 12, 2011

June 12, 2011 | By

Hello fishing enthusiasts, and thank you for logging in for this week’s fish report. We are still picking up a couple of fish per day in key locations. The water is still a little high for some of my favorite spots to fish, but there are good places available, you just have to find them. We are not getting full limits, but we’re still finding a couple of nice ones everyday.

We have installed a new GoPro Hero helmet camera on the boat, so we can take a live video of your catch. We’ve tested it out and found that the video is very crisp and clear, and will make a great addition to your fishing memories. We’re working on editing this 30 pound catch video, and hope to have it on the website within a week.

Rogue River Fish Report June 6, 2011

June 7, 2011 | By

Hello fellow fishing enthusiasts, and thank you for logging in for the Rogue River fish report. There for awhile we weren’t seeing much action, but salmon fishing has picked up, and most days I’m able to land 3 salmon. The lower Rogue is giving up about 20 fish per day.

On average, most boats are catching between 2-3 fish. These numbers of catches make for good day’s fishing if you have one or two people on board. So don’t hesitate to give me a call at 541-425-1515, to book your trip. You don’t want to miss out.

Rogue River Fish Report – May 15, 2011

May 15, 2011 | By

Hi and thanks for logging in. Fishing on the river is extremely slow. There’s a lot of fish being taken out of ocean that are thin clipped Rogue River springers, so they should be up here shortly. The sooner the better for us.

I’m sure the run isn’t over.  Every year we have a small lull in May, but it picks back up towards the end of the month and the in first few weeks in June.

I had an opportunity to stay at Gold Beach Inn this week. I found it very nice, clean and comfortable and extremely reasonable on the price.

With rain expected for the next three days, the river should be just about perfect by the end of this week and the beginning of the next. So if you’re thinking about fishing for Spring Chinook salmon, you better give us a call at 541-425-1515.

Fishing Report for Sunday, April 10, 2011

April 10, 2011 | By

Hi and thank you for logging in for this week’s fish report.   The fishing is fantastic. It started out a little slow at the beginning of the week because of cold water, but the water warmed up to 48.9 degrees today and I hooked six springers. I had one to the boat when a seal decided to take it. Shortly after that we hooked another one, but it was wild and we had to release it. We hooked one close to 30 pounds and a seal got a hold of  it and fought with us for 45 minutes. Finally, we got it back and it was a keeper. We landed two more hatcheries after that.

To date, I’ve had ten fishing trips and landed 28 fish. If the seal hadn’t have got the one from me today, I’d have 29, which is almost three fish per trip average. That’s good springer fishing. The water is warming up and the fish are starting to come in in fair numbers.

This week is booked, but I have openings next week and quite a few still available in May. So don’t hesitate to call me at 541-425-1515 and book your trip before they’re gone, so you can enjoy these wonderful fish. Thank you.

Fishing Report for Sunday, April 3, 2011

Thanks for logging in for this week’s fish report. Sorry it’s late, but I gave my phone swimming lessons and I’ve lost all of your numbers. I’m getting a replacement tomorrow, so please call me at 541-425-1515 and leave me a message so I can get you re-entered into the memory bank. Then I can keep you updated on the hot bites — And these last few trips have been excellent!

So far this springer season, I’ve gone on 7 trips,  had 29 bites and landed 19. Only three were wild, and all the rest were hatchery.  This season is starting out to be totally fantastic. The water is still extremely high but beautiful in color. I’ve been fishing a lot deeper than normal in 5, 6 and 8 ounce water where the current is running 3.5 to 4 miles an hour.

I hope you enjoy the photos below, and would love to put your pictures on the website as well, with stories of catching lots of fish. So please give us a call at 541-425-1515, and let us make some memories for you. My cell phone will be up and working tomorrow.

Fishing Report for Sunday, March 27, 2011

March 27, 2011 | By

Hello fellow fishing enthusiasts, and thanks for logging in for this week’s fish report. The 2011 season is starting out to be a great one. In 3 days fishing this last week, I hooked 10 and landed 7. Last year in the month of March, I went 7 times for 7 fish. We’re already starting out to show a much higher catch ratio this year than last.

Great looking steelhead caught march 24, 2011

I firmly believe that Friday I would have caught fish if I was in the right location. My clients came to town the night before, but failed to call and let me know. I would have gotten on the river a couple of hours before daylight in my favorite spots, and I didn’t thinking they weren’t here.  They called me at 6:00 in the morning and I was still at home. There was already 7 boats on the water in the location I would have chosen.  These clients are great, great people and I hope to get them a fish soon. It is so critical when you’re going with a guide to make sure and let him know that you are there, so he can get the premium spot for you. I feel really bad for not getting fish on Friday and only having one pull down. The location that I had chose had  two fish taken that day.

With all the current rain, the river has blown out for a couple of days. We should be back to fishing Thursday or Friday. Weekends are booking up quick. April is booked, so you need to start thinking about May or early June if you’re looking for a weekend, but weekdays are always better because there is less pressure on the river. Looking forward to serving you. Call 541-425-1515 to get your reservation today.
